He has since taken thousands of photos and still uses the camera regularly.I added a 2GB SD card and rechargeable batteries to enable him to click away all day long....and he does. His 3yo sister also enjoys using the camera.
Fisher Price did an excellent job with the camera's controls - just 5 buttons and easy enough for a 3yo to use in just minutes.
Don't expect high resolution images..it's a camera for kids. 640 x 480 is plenty and the photos are decent. The camera definitely serves its purpose and puts a smile on their little faces.
My only advice...watch your back. Once armed, the kids will snap pictures of anything, any time, anywhere.
July 2009 UPDATE: In 2007 I purchased the pink updated model for my daughter. The updated model has a larger LCD and a much easier to open battery compartment...you can use a coin. No need to look for a screwdriver.
My son's Kid Tough Camera is still cranking out photos after three and a half years, and my daughter's still works beautifully too. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the durability of these cameras and the cases.
In response to one of the negative reviews that I just read, this camera does NOT use watch batteries. We own two and they both use AA batteries. I question whether that reviewer even owns one. If s/he did, this would be obvious.
