It is basically only one piece of trace (one type of connector on each end) but it is really long (or can be shortened to your liking). One additional positive is that it does come with one male/male piece and one female/female piece, which can be useful in connecting other pieces. Note that this is made up of a lot of about one inch long pieces that connect together. Since they also disconnect, it might not be appropriate for younger children.
