It is very loud and heavy. This could hurt children that pick things up and carry them around. The wheels have no safety feature either so if your child is like mine, and wants to touch everything, then his/her's little fingers will get hurt touching the wheels as they spin extremely fast. The car is also VERY easy to activate (make it go). Just one little touch gets it flying and there is no stopping it once it starts.
Specifically, this toy does not operate on carpet. On hardwood floors, it goes very, very fast. When it hits a wall or other obstacle, it continues to spin the wheels, which puts a lot of wear and tear on the vehicle. It also goes very far, and my son is tired of waiting on it to stop moving so that he can make it go again. I am taking it back tomorrow because I am worried it will break or hurt my son, and because I don't have an abnormally large foyer or hallway where this toy can work.
Only reason this gets any stars from me is that I think it could be good for a 6-9 month old baby that cannot pick things up or stand up/walk. The large ball on top of the car is easy for an infant that young to spin, and they would probably be very happy to see the car zoom away.
